BRIGHTSTAR TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., abbreviated as BRIGHTSTARTW, is the only Asian HID bulb manufacturer, based in Taiwan, being able to produce E-MARK (ECE homologated) and DOT (compliant to FMVSS 108) D2S (P32d-2), D1S (PK32d-2) and D2R (P32d-3) HID bulbs in addition to PHILIPS, OSRAM & GE.
HID bulbs (gas discharge lamps) are specifically regulated in ECE Regulation No. 99, Approval of Gas-discharge Light Sources, Rev. 2.
The Regulation clearly defines HID bulbs position, dimensions of electrodes, arc, electrical characteristics, luminous flux, color, UV radiation, etc. to ensure:
Brightness of the bulb, too bright could cause glare to upcoming road users, too dim would not able to see the way ahead
Light source is correctly focused with tolerant beam pattern
Voltage and wattage, can be safely fitted without potential danger like overloading
Size and shape, can be correctly fitted into the headlights
And so on

In cold state approx. 7 bar to:
1. Protect the electrodes
2. Prolong the bulb’s life
3. Increase more light output
4. Stabilize color
*Those non-compliant HID bulbs from local China suppliers are injected much less xenon gas, sometimes 1 bar only, to incredibly lower their cost. This is exactly why the non-compliant bulbs stop working, become dim or change color only after 2-3 months of use.
